CALL FOR CAMERAS
SAFELY OUT™ TO DISTRIBUTE THOUSANDS OF KITS IN SOUTH LAKE TAHOE
TO HOMEOWNERS THREATENED WITH EVACUATION

Door-to-Door Distribution Taking Place Beginning Thursday Morning, June 28

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 27, 2007

WHAT: In an effort to help protect the vulnerable and streamline evacuation processes in the South Lake

Tahoe area due to the Angora Ridge Fire, the SAFELY OUT Project will begin distribution of thousands of SAFELY OUT evacuation kits to those under evacuation orders or who feel threatened. SAFELY OUT Kits will be distributed door-to-door beginning Thursday morning in those neighborhoods identified as having the highest threat. Volunteers will go

from home to home in an effort to distribute SAFELY OUT kits to help residents streamline their own evacuation and help fire personnel expedite evacuation efforts.

SAFELY OUT is seeking donations and sponsorships to assist in covering the cost of the kits

for those in need. $10,000 has already been contributed by one large Sacramento congregation, and other businesses, nonprofits and faith based organizations are called upon to join the effort immediately. Call 916/503-3194 or visit www.citizenvoice.org to make a donation or for more information.

Since it’s inception on the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina in August 2006, Citizen Voice
has secured commitments for 10,000 SAFELY OUT kits to be distributed in the Sacramento
pilot region. By the end of 2007, plans call for commitments for 100,000 kits to complete the
pilot project. To reach this goal, Citizen Voice is seeking sponsors for the $875,000 needed to achieve this important milestone before moving the project statewide.
