Citizen Voice SAFELY OUT™ Celebration

SAFELY OUT™ is a project of Citizen Voice, developed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, to help ensure that our most vulnerable citizens -- including the disabled, frail seniors, young children and more -- are protected during a disaster.  The groundbreaking, neighbor-helping-neighbor SAFELY OUT™ Project distributes the unique SAFELY OUT™ Kit designed to assist in the safe evacuation of vulnerable persons during any natural or manmade disaster.

On Tuesday, October 13, 2009, we are bringing together those we serve, the project sponsors that support this vital work, community leaders and elected officials to celebrate the success of SAFELY OUT™, honor those who make the project possible and announce exciting statewide expansion plans for the project.

Leo & Charles RIA
Thank you to Leo Grover of Pinnacle Emergency Management and Charles Cassani of Steamatic for their immense support of the SAFELY OUT™ Project.  They connected us with their very large nationwide industry association (RIA, the Restoration Industry Association), made arrangements for us to keynote their national conference, and even paid the expenses associated with our participation.  They are great friends of Citizen Voice!

Along with being a huge supporter of the SAFELY OUT Project, Charles Cassani has been a leader in his industry.  The RIA Convention, and other meetings in Washington, D.C. during the week, offered national exposure and outstanding connections to begin moving SAFELY OUT nationwide.

After a moving keynote speech on the SAFELY OUT Project by Citizen Voice
co-founder and President Gary Dietrich, Leo Grover presented him with a check for $10,000, completing his goal to contribute $25,000 for SAFELY OUT Kits that will be given to the 2,500 employees of PRIDE Industries with disabilities.  PRIDE employees, including many who would be considered vulnerable themselves in a disaster, are the ones who assemble the SAFELY OUT Kits.

Ultimately, $1 million will be needed to complete the initial phase of the
SAFELY OUT pilot project and the successful distribution of 100,000 kits.
This is only the beginning of what is rapidly becoming a major, groundbreaking "neighbor helping neighbor" effort that is capturing national attention.  Further evidence of this are the SAFELY OUT Kits that have been ordered from as far away as Chicago and Hawaii.

and Citizen's Election Night Party

The event was a huge success, and everyone had a great time!

Gary Dietrich, president of Citizen Voice, introduces Assemblyman Roger Niello, one of the many high-profile guests that were in attendance that night.  The Presidential Dinner was a time to recognize and thank our biggest sponsors and supporters.  Radio personality Jack Armstrong, of "The Armstrong and Getty Show" is sitting just to the right of Assemblyman Niello. Presidential Dinner
Gary and Roger Dickinson
Throughout the night, Gary Dietrich, who is also a highly respected nonpartisan political analyst, gave updates on the presidential race as well as other dynamic ballot measure and electoral office contests.  To the left, Sacramento County Supervisor Roger Dickinson lends his support.
The groundbreaking Nonpartisan Citizens Election Night Party -- to our knowledge the first nonpartisan election night event ever held in the biggest state in the country -- enabled citizens to come together to watch the results come in, enjoy good food and make new friends, talk politics, and celebrate our nation's democracy.Great crowd!

Guests had a chance to pose throughout the night with the presidential and vice presidential candidates from both major parties (or at least a reasonable facsimile of each!)
