CITIZEN VOICE ADDS UNEDITED INTERVIEW WITH
GOVERNOR SCHWARZENEGGER

Non-Profit Offers Nonpartisan Interviews and Summaries, Providing Insight to
November Ballot Candidates and Propositions

(October 31, 2006 – Sacramento, CA) – With one week to go before the 2006 General Election,
Citizen Voice.org, a dynamic new nonpartisan movement that involves citizens in the public arena,
has added an unedited interview with Governor Schwarzenegger, completing the full list of
interviews with California’s statewide election candidates. CitizenVoice.org is one of the only places
for voters to access an interview with the Governor that addresses specific issues of concern to
Californians in the upcoming election.

Respected political experts are in favor of Citizen Voice’s efforts. "At a time when voter trust is at
an all time low, it is imperative that we provide information that is both non-partisan and factual,"
explained Barbara O'Connor, Director of the Institute for the Study of Politics and Media, at
California State University, Sacramento. "I am delighted to add a new source to that very short
list."

“Deliberative democracy requires an informed electorate. But in California, citizens often have a
tough time learning about candidates and issues. In some cases, there's an information desert. In
others, there's an information deluge,” explained John J. Pitney, Jr., Roy P. Crocker Professor of
American Politics at Claremont McKenna College. “Citizen Voice helps voters find the
information that they need in a concise and usable format.”

Citizen Voice is responding to voters’ need for a fresh type of help in making sense of California’s
2006 statewide election with a groundbreaking project never before undertaken in California. The
heart of the project includes unscripted, unedited, on-demand audio interviews with every major
candidate for statewide office, in addition to both sides of every statewide ballot measure. This
ambitious, unprecedented effort involves over 40 interviews that bring voters up close and personal
with the candidates and ballot measure advocates themselves – no filtering from political handlers,
no canned commercials.

Interviews with candidates on www.citizenvoice.org include:
Governor: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Phil Angelides
Lieutenant Governor: John Garamendi and Tom McClintock
U.S. Senate: Diane Feinstein and Richard Mountjoy
Secretary of State: Bruce McPherson and Debra Bowen
Controller: John Chiang and Tony Strickland
Treasurer: Bill Lockyer and Claude Parrish
Insurance Commissioner: Cruz Bustamante and Steve Poizner
Attorney General: Jerry Brown and Chuck Poochigian

Interviews and nonpartisan descriptions of ballot measures will include: 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E, 83, 84,
85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90 as well as Sacramento region Measures Q & R (a pair of very controversial
measures dealing with a new arena for the Sacramento Kings.)

If you would like to schedule an interview with Citizen Voice President Gary Dietrich about
this project, please call Heather Atherton at 916/316-4568.
