EVENT ADVISORY
Remembering 9/11…Protecting Our Community
9/11 Tribute with Citizen Voice and Red Cross Kicks Off Distribution
of SAFELY OUT™ Protect the Vulnerable During Disaster™ Kits in Sacramento Area
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 29, 2006
WHAT: Remembering 9/11…Protecting Our Community. Citizen Voice, the American Red
Cross-Sacramento/Sierra Chapter and community leaders invite you to a regional 9/11
anniversary event to remember and honor the memory of 9/11 as well as help us learn
how to protect our families and our community. In light of recent terrorist activity and
awareness of our region’s vulnerability to flooding, protecting our communities from
manmade and natural disasters needs to be a priority.
The 9/11 event is part of the launch of SAFELY OUT™, a groundbreaking pilot project
to ensure that our most vulnerable residents are evacuated safely during a disaster.
9/11 will be the first date that SAFELY OUT™ Kits will be available to the public. It
will also provide an opportunity for the public to join in this effort. To get additional
details on the project or to order a kit, beginning on 9/11, visit the Citizen Voice web
site at www.citizenvoice.org or call (916) 503-3194.
